History

Set up in Perl/Mosel in 1932, meanwhile Knauf Gips KG/Iphofen, the company is today not just one of the leading building materials manufacturers in Europe but also an internationally operating company, whose activities are not just limited to the production of plaster-based building materials. Despite expansive growth, Knauf as before is a pure family business, which is owned by the family of the company founders, Dr. Alfons and Karl Knauf.

As an independent company within the Knauf Group, Knauf Integral in Satteldorf set the course for construction with trendsetting gypsum fibre technology by constantly developing Dr. Alfons Knauf’s new and further ideas to produce a high-strength gypsum fibre panel. The latest production technique and our team’s know-how have brought us to where we stand today: at the top - across Europe.


	1957: Patent registration to manufacture “Gyflex” gypsum fibre panels by Dr. Alfons Knauf 1960: Pilot system in Perl produces 160,000 sqm Gyflex panels 1974: Gypsum fibre panel machine ordered 1977: First major customers are supplied 1979: Foundation of Knauf Gips KG in Satteldorf 1982: Start of export business 1986: 3-shift operation in Satteldorf 1989: Investment decision to acquire a dual width panel system 1990: Construction phase 1: new development of hall and paper processing 1994: Construction phase 2: further processing, dryer extension and press route 1995: Start up of press routes to create highly compact gypsum fibre 1997: Annual sales volume exceeds the limit of 1million sqm gypsum fibre panels 2000: Start up of the new panel system 2003: Knauf Gips KG renamed Knauf Integral KG 2003: Conclusion of the system investment with the start-up of the panel dryer 2005: Annual sales volume exceeds the limit of 2 million sqm gypsum fibre panels 2006: Both systems produce in multi-shift operation 2008: production of 3.5 million sqm p.a. 2009: Start of the second referring line/amalgamation of businesses Knauf-Integral KG/Knauf Gips KG 2011: Market launch of Knauf ONE Pro, the first floor covering from Knauf Integral
